Emergent leaders such as Brian McLaren, Leonard Sweet and Chris Seay who are sick of the being confined by the exacting language of the true scriptures have created their own slippery, ooohy gooohy, "translation" of the Bible that will finally set them free from doctrinal and theological restrictions. The name of this new 'bible' is called The Voice.
UPDATE: I have removed the video as I am not aware of how to have the page open without the video playing. If you want to see the video see the post referenced above.
A Little Leaven is still looking for new acronyms for this apostate 'bible. I have already made a couple of suggestions:
- Why not simply refer to it as the ET? It seems fitting for a couple of reasons: 1) the theology of McLaren is alien to the Bible; 2) the translation itself seems alien to the Bible.
- How about calling it the NOT Bible as in the No Objective Truth Bible?
- How about BM for Bible Mash?
- Or ANT for A Nebulous Translation?
Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise...
"You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified.
He has risen! He is not here." (Mark 16:2-6)

Stan, I thought you were just kidding...until I went to the website. Oh my!
How about EST?
Emerging Slippery Translation
No joke, other than the translation itself and the people behind it.
EST sounds great!
A slight twist to it would yield the ESP. Emerging Slippery Paraphrase.
Right. That is more fitting. When I used "translation" I was uncomfortable actually referring to the ESP as that.
Christian Research Network just posted a reference to Chris Rosebrough's extensive review and commentary at Fighting for the Faith radio program. It is titled, "New Emergent Bible Omits Sin of Homosexuality in 1 Cor 6:9"
You can listen to it here:

Ralph, thanks.
Compare the TNIV: Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals
Now the ESP: Do you need reminding that the unjust have no share in the blessing of the Kingdom of God? Do not be misled. A lot of people stand to inherit nothing of God’s coming kingdom, including those whose lives are defined by sexual immorality, idolatry, adultery, sexual deviancy
SBST - Sensitive Bible Story Translation
Not much comment needed.
Jeff
EST sounds too much like ESV. I don't think Crossway would like that. I think ET is better. Everyone has forgotten about ET the movie.
Jeff: SBST sounds good.
Kevin: Wouldn't want anyone to confuse those two translations.
I have a new one: NUT
Nebulous Uncommitted Translation
Stan: I am glad that you clarified your suggestion for "BM". I have been following (at a distance) the development of this heretical translation which has been largely under the leadership of Seay, who I am ashamed to say lives in TX. All along, I had been thinking "BM" might mean something altogether different as relates to this "version" of scripture.
Chuck,
Another meaning to BM? Chuck. I'm surprised at you. ;)
HAhah BM.
I refer to this translation every day at work.
Char,
Which translation is that?
How about...E coli
Emergent Church's Own Literary Insanity
Eddie,
E coli is simply brilliant!
Thanks for your contribution.
the BM translation-every time I ask a resident if they had one today.
Char,
What kind of work do you do again?
I worked in a nursing home. Now I am working in a physical rehabilitation centre.
Char,
That makes more sense now. I remember you saying that before.
I got confused looking at your profile which says something about farming.
